The Idea

I am passionate about video and innovative learning, and want to formalize my video skills with this plan: learn Final Cut Pro X, earn Apple FCP X Certification, and create a training plan with videos and quizzes for anyone to get Apple FCP X certified in 30 days for less than $100.

The Plan

June 1 – 30: Learn Final Cut Pro X using textbook, free resources, and software, maintain project blog and Twitter account with updates, tips, and notes
July 1: Take online Apple Associates FCP X certification test
July 2 – 31: Record 8 FCP X video tutorials and post to Youtube
August 1-17: Flip these videos using Ted Education platform to build quizzes, notes, and time management resources so anyone can complete the training in 30 days, the length of a FCP X free download
August 18-31: Create list of video project challenges to build a portfolio, use video-based LMS ApprenNet to allow anyone to submit short, creative video clips and get feedback from peers and industry professionals

How will you share your learning plan with the community?

I will maintain a blog and Twitter account during my project with updates, notes on FCP X, and tips for how to gain the skills and resources you need for media production. I will create a training plan with videos, quizzes, notes, and resources so anyone can get Apple FCP X certified.

Sounds like a great summer! I love the leveraging - learning by building ways for more to learn too. Sweet.

Thank you, Karl! The best learning is action-based, I want to build a learning resource that activates the imagination and provides passionate learners with a marketable skill. As you have built ApprenNet to be incredibly action-based, I know you know all about benefits of active learning. I so appreciate the support, Karl. Keep up the amazing work.

Thanks Rosanna! I hope to make it a resource that is helpful for educators, students, classrooms, aspiring filmmakers and video producers alike. After reading "DIY U", I'm convinced there are many roads to gain the skills we need, and I want to provide a resource and marketable skill for anyone who recognizes video editing as a needed skill but might not have the time or money for a university course or degree. Thank you for your support!
